Job Description:
We are looking for teachers for a minimum commitment of 10 weeks, to deliver English classes to refugees and asylum seekers in the Epirus region of Northern Greece. The ideal candidate would have experience teaching English as a foreign/second language and would possess a strong understanding of or passion for the context we work in. Experience in delivering educational activities in this context is a strong advantage.
The role will include:
(1) Planning and delivering lessons for classes that can range from A0 (illiteracy) to B2, taking into account individual differences in level within each class
(2) Preparing class materials and assessments
(3) Empowering students with interpersonal – and life – skills; and incorporating these skills into lesson planning
(4) Completing various administrative tasks such as tracking attendance and communicating class updates to the students
(5) Ensuring student engagement and progress
(6) Working closely with the Education Manager to ensure the programme is being delivered to the expected standards of Second Tree
(7) Participating in various community engagement activities so as to maintain relationships with students outwith the classroom context such as: picnics, community lunches, sporting events, etc.
